Clinical Supervision for Virginia MFT and LPC Residents

Become the therapist you know you can be…

You’ve made it through practicum and internship. You’ve read and read about how to do therapy. But now you are ready to be the therapist you always wanted to be and dive into exploring what your style of therapy looks like. If you are a fellow creative, ambitious, trouble coloring in the box, integrative therapist who is ready to learn how to be the most ethical, transformative therapist you can be, let’s chat.

I am a Virginia Board Approved Clinical Supervisor for LPCs and LMFTs and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. My experience encompasses treating a variety of presenting issues with individuals, couples, families, and children. These presenting issues include, but are not limited to: parenting challenges, relationship difficulties, life transitions, attachment injuries, TBIs, ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety, spiritual issues/religious trauma, pregnancy, infertility, perinatal mental health, complex trauma, and single-event trauma.

I believe the world doesn’t need another cookie cutter therapist. The world needs authentic therapists who hold themselves to the highest ethical standards, has kick-ass therapeutic tools that work, and isn’t afraid of deep transformational change (for their clients and themselves).

My Approach

Let’s be honest. Supervision is a vulnerable process. In our field, to learn and grow, we have to put ourselves out there. And the reality is that not all supervision experiences feel safe. My bad supervision experiences, the ones who rocked my confidence and left me wondering if I should quit the field, are what lead me to wanting to be a supervisor. Our work is too hard and too important to not have a supportive community around us.

My approach is rooted in care, compassion, and transformation. I love helping supervisees move through the developmental stages needed to develop a secure therapeutic identity. I approach my work through a humanistic, attachment-focused, and developmentally attuned lens to help supervisees work from their growing edge. I work best with supervisees who are driven towards excellence and are curious and excited about learning the art and science of therapy (which, of course, includes self-of-the-therapist work).
